Pressure building on government to tackle climate change
Reports released by The Climate Institute and the Grattan Institute highlight that pressure is building on the government for real action to tackle climate change and transform Australia into a renewable energy superpower, Australian Greens Climate and Energy spokesperson Adam Bandt MP said today.
“The Australian people want our nation to be a world leader in fighting climate change and investing in renewables, but yet again the government has failed to provide the leadership our country so desperately needs,” Mr Bandt said.
“We must begin to transition our country to a coal free future, but as this research demonstrates neither of the old parties have a credible policy to reduce pollution and ensure Australia meets its international climate change commitments.”
“Once again, the Australian people have spoken. We can no longer ignore the threat of climate change or our country’s desire for meaningful action.”
