Greens call on Minister Hunt to defer cuts to the R&D Tax Incentive
Australian Greens Science, Research & Innovation spokesperson Adam Bandt MP responded to the release today of the R&D Tax Incentive Review report by calling on the Minister to defer cuts to the R&D tax incentive.
“This review confirms that the R&D tax incentive is key to the future of Australian science and innovation, yet the government is about to cut it," said Mr Bandt
"The Minister has failed to be up-front with the Parliament, helping rush through legislation a couple of weeks ago that will cut tax breaks for research and development. Those cuts must now be deferred."
“The Minister has had this review since April but kept it secret until cuts to the R&D tax incentive passed the Parliament.”
“If this government had released this report sooner, we could be having a debate about increasing support for R&D instead of cutting it.”
