Greens Deputy Leader and Industry spokesperson, Adam Bandt MP, today said that Paul Howes’ resignation provides a great opportunity.
“What Australia needs right now is a strong defence against Tony Abbott’s attack on people’s rights at work and union leaders with crystal-clear allegiances to their members,” said Mr Bandt.
“Let’s not forget that on the same day Tony Abbott’s Government was attending the Fair Work Commission, attacking people's wages, Mr Howes was busy repeating Tony Abbott’s anti-worker talking points.
“Paul Howes might believe that every-day Western Australian workers are paid too much but that’s not the Greens’ view.
“Mr Howes is clearly getting ready to enter politics. The question is whether it’s with the Liberal or Labor party,” said Mr Bandt.
