Greens vow to fight tooth and nail to stop coal-fired power in Hunter region.
Greens climate change and energy spokesperson Adam Bandt MP today vowed to oppose reported plans of a Cayman Islands company working with China and an Australian developer to build two new coal-fired power stations in New South Wales.
Mr Bandt vowed that the Greens and the community would fight any moves to construct these coal-fired power stations tooth and nail.
We will fight tooth and nail to stop this madness,” said Mr Bandt.
“We will raise up a massive movement to ensure that these power-stations never happen. We’ll work with the community to build a mountain of opposition to prevent these plants from ever seeing the light of day.
“Both Labor and Liberal must immediately rule this project out.
“We’ve just had the hottest summer on record. We need to close down coal-fired power stations not build new ones.
“Building new coal-fired power stations is signing a death-warrant for the planet.
