Greens Member for Melbourne and industrial relations spokesperson Adam Bandt MP today said Social Services Minister Scott Morrison's trivialising Paid Parental Leave as a 'first world issue' is offensive and called on the government to ditch its attack on PPL.

"It is offensive to dismiss the concerns of women and families who are struggling to balance work and children as a 'first world issue'," Mr Bandt said.

"It probably goes some way to explaining why so many women are turning off the Coalition."

"Juggling the demands of work and a new child is one of the most difficult things that people can do. New parents need the government's support."

"If it really is a trivial problem as the Minister suggests, the government should drop its attempt to cut Paid Parental Leave."
