Prime Minister still has no national energy plan, stuck in endless loop of feasibility study announcements: Bandt
Greens climate change and energy spokesperson Adam Bandt MP today said that the Prime Minister’s announcement on Tasmanian pumped hydro shows that he is stuck in an endless loop of proclamations in hi-vis vests, none of which constitute a coherent national plan on energy policy.
“When large-scale renewables with storage could be rapidly rolled out and switched on, another feasibility study for pumped hydro won’t keep the lights on next year,” said Mr. Bandt.
“Malcolm Turnbull is stuck in an endless loop of hi-vis vest proclamations, none of which amount to a coherent national energy plan.
“Whether it’s a proposal to bankroll coal-fired power stations in Queensland one day or feasibility studies for pumped hydro the next, there’s only one conclusion to draw: that the Prime Minister is a man without a plan who’s losing popularity and just thinking of things to say that might give him a bump in the next poll.
“We need to get the states on board with a national plan built on renewables and storage that we can start rolling out rapidly.
“It’s time to take off the hi-vis vests, roll up the sleeves and start getting to work.”
