End Insecure Work

Take Action

Casualisation is up and rising job insecurity is stretching people to breaking point. Working people are under attack and have less certainty and rights at work than ever before.

Since 2012, Adam has been pushing to give casuals the right to secure employment, and in March 2018, he reintroduced legislation into the House of Representatives that will grant casual and contract workers the right to convert to secure employment.

It’s time to change the rules. Call on Labor and the Liberals to back our bill to end insecure work.

Why is this important?

  • As wage growth stagnates, penalty rates are cut, inequality rises and underemployment remains stubbornly high, casual workers are feeling the brunt of this shift.
  • 53% of casual workers experience variable earnings from one pay period to another.
  • 31% want more hours of work per week.
  • Casuals are much less likely to be given guaranteed minimum hours per week and are more concerned about their job security than their permanent counterparts. Insecure work is wrecking people’s lives.
