Adam Bandt MP in conversation with Julian Burnside AO QC.

Join us for an evening of conversation with Adam Bandt MP and Julian Burnside AO QC. This is a free event, but places are limited to 100.

Adam Bandt is the Greens Member for Melbourne. Julian Burnside is an Australian Barrister who is deeply involved in human rights work, in particular in relation to refugees. Alongside publishing a number of other books, Burnside is the editor of From Nothing to Zero, a compilation of letters written by asylum seekers held in Australia's detention camps.

In the 3 years since the last federal election we have seen an escalation of the international refugee crisis, and here in Australia we are experiencing a race to the bottom on refugee policy by the old political parties.

How can we defend the human rights of those who come to us seeking protection? How can we respond to the inflammatory, racist and demonising remarks of people like Peter Dutton and Tony Abbott?

You're invited to attend this event and join the discussion at a critical time for our country's approach to the refugee crisis.
