Greens Deputy Leader Adam Bandt MP has welcomed Kevin Rudd's jobs announcements today but said Kevin Rudd had an opportunity to vote for one of the key policies earlier in the year when Labor opposed Greens amendments.
Greens Deputy Leader and Federal Member for Melbourne Adam Bandt and Greens lead Senate candidate Janet Rice, have released a Melbourne transport plan costed by the Parliamentary Budget Office. The plan will redirect $1.4 billion in uncontracted roads funding from the $24 billion Nation Building Program to public transport, cycleways and getting trucks off residential streets.
Speaking at the starting point for a new East West tram line Mr Bandt says the projects will reduce traffic congestion, make Melbourne more liveable and reduce carbon pollution.

Joined by community leaders, refugee advocates and former Greens Leader Bob Brown, Mr Bandt took aim at the old parties' race to the bottom on refugees and cuts to universities and clean energy and said that Melbourne needed to continue show leadership to the rest of the country.
