Malcolm Turnbull's second-rate NBN is failing Melbourne.
Because the Liberal government is failing to invest in a high-quality NBN with the right technology, our community is facing long waits and second-rate internet speeds.
Not only will most of Melbourne not receive a Fibre To The Premises connection, now NBNco has announced a 6-9 month delay in connecting homes to Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) - that's the technology that used to deliver Foxtel back in the 1990s. The delay will hit residents in Ascot Vale, Flemington, Kensington, North Melbourne, Fitzroy North, Collingwood, Abbotsford, and East Melbourne.
Meanwhile, Melbourne's innovative businesses are being put under pressure by slow internet speeds and high costs.
The Greens have been pushing for years for a plan that would deliver fast broadband for every home and business - but the Liberal government has botched it.
This is not good enough. Join the call for the NBN that Melbourne and Australia needs.
