DEFEND AND EXTEND THE NDIS
Labor's cuts to the NDIS in the budget are being felt by so many right now. If Labor can fund $313 billion in tax cuts for billionaires and $368 billion to fund nuclear submarines - why can't they properly fund our NDIS?
Join Adam and Senator Jordon Steele-John for an online town hall on what these changes mean for you, what's next in our campaign to fully fund the NDIS, and how you can get involved.
We're excited to be joined by Zoe Simmons, award-winning journalist and advocate, who’s been published hundreds of times around the globe—including by News.com.au, New York Post, POPSUGAR, Daily Mail, New Idea, That’s Life and more. Zoe also runs a copywriting and editing business, where she helps businesses large and small to find their perfect words.
A passionate disability advocate, Zoe lives with chronic pain and fatigue, thanks to fibromyalgia and undiagnosed adenomyosis, as well as bipolar, autism and anxiety. Zoe candidly writes and speaks about her experiences with disability to raise awareness, smash stigma, create change, and help others going through the same thing to know they aren't alone
We will also be joined by Emi Martin, a disability advocate, and invisibly disabled. She was only diagnosed at 26 years old. She is autistic and has ADHD, and diagnosis changed her life. She collects stories and experiences with the NDIS and has a broad view of its challenges and barriers, along with more detailed knowledge of how it impacts individuals. She often steps up as an informal support for disabled friends when their formal supports fall through, and has witnessed both the challenges and benefits of participation. She works full time as a high school mathematics teacher.
