Stop Uni Cuts

Young people are getting screwed

In last month’s Budget, the Liberal government announced they’ll make things worse, ripping $2.8 Billion from higher education while lifting university fees by thousands of dollars.

Young people will be forced to pay back HECS-HELP debts when your income is just $42,000, less than the average wage. This means young people making just $21 an hour for full time work will have to start paying back higher university debts.

This is an attack on young people and on our universities.

I hope you’ll join with me in adding your voice to stand up against these cruel university cuts.

The Liberals most recent budget was a cruel attack on young people and on our universities.

The Liberals say that education benefits students so they should pay more, but education is a cornerstone of a democratic society, as well as being a big economic boost to our country.

In a wealthy country like Australia, everyone should have the right to go to uni or TAFE, no matter how much money you earn.

Enough is enough. It is time to stop the war on the young.

The Greens will fight these harsh uni cuts and push for more money for schools too, as well as more affordable housing, better income support and penalty rates enshrined in law.
