Why is this important?
I am not your typical politician. My first job was with homeless teenagers. I’ve directed the East Timor Human Rights Centre, put slavery on the national agenda at Project Respect, taken leadership roles in health and family violence services, and now lecture in social policy and research gambling at La Trobe University.
As a representative on Yarra Council (2004-2008), I helped make Council carbon neutral, and drove bike infrastructure expansion. My formal roles on Council included chairing Finance and Human Services committee and the Bicycle Advisory and Disability Advisory committee.
I will campaign hard for a Richmond supervised injecting facility to save lives, affordable housing to make Melbourne a place where people can live where they love, the creation of the Great Forest National Park and for urgent action on climate change.
