The Treasurer’s insistence in MYEFO on cuts to health and childcare despite revelations that many large companies paid no tax puts the Government on course for the kind of Budget battle with the Senate that led to Joe Hockey’s demise, said Greens Treasury spokesperson, Adam Bandt.

“Tax reform needs to start at the top, not the bottom,” said Mr Bandt.

“If our current Treasurer insists on cuts to health and childcare while letting big companies like Qantas, Virgin and Chevron pay no tax, the Greens in the Senate will ensure he goes the way of the last Treasurer.”
