Greens Deputy Leader and Federal Member for Melbourne Adam Bandt MP will push for the Treasurer to reject a move to allow a Chinese super high-rise developer - Greenland Holding Group - to buy land from the Victorian Racing Club in Flemington.

“I am very concerned about this plan to foist a new high-rise development on the Flemington community,” Mr Bandt said.

“The VRC has cut this deal behind closed doors without a public process.”

I will be pressuring the Treasurer to reject this deal, which needs foreign investment approval. I urge the Victorian Planning Minister to not allow a super-high rise development on the site.”

“We worked with the community on a successful campaign to stop the VRC putting in more poker machines. The community can win again.”

The Greenland Holding Group are reported to be one of the largest 500 companies in the world and are building the second highest building in China.
