Greens Deputy Leader and Federal Member for Melbourne has condemned a decision by Labor MP to preference the Liberals ahead of the Greens in the inner city seat of Melbourne Ports.

Mr Bandt said this was further evidence of the preference deal between Labor and Tony Abbott, which sees the Liberals preferencing Labor in the seat of Melbourne.

“Another day and another revelation about Labor’s preference deal with Tony Abbott,” Mr Bandt said.

“Labor’s move is shameless. Labor voters in inner Melbourne will be shocked to know Labor is preferencing the Liberals ahead of the Greens.”

“This comes after reports of Labor preferencing the Liberals in Mallee ahead of the Nationals as part of the deal have been confirmed by Labor how-to-vote cards.

"The old parties want to stop the Greens because we stand up for what matters."

"Voters in inner Melbourne have clear choice. They can help Tony Abbott or they can vote Greens.”
